From Dream to Reality: The Writer’s Dream Experience

Massapequa Park 6/09/2015 03:47 PM GMT (WooEB)

On a very blustery day in April, 2011, I participated in a “Meet the Author” event at the Riverhead, L.I. Library. The weather was so bad few people showed up. I was kicking myself for making the long drive, and filed this as another poorly attended author’s event. It ended up as the most important event I’d attended that year.

Local access TV works this way. To use the facilities of any broadcasting facility, you must live in the viewing area, or have a sponsor who does, and will state in writing with proof of residency that they want your show to air. Then, you have to have a show. The show needs a producer, a director and camera people. The “crew” must undergo training at the studio, and be certified.
Local access studios have state of the art recording and editing facilities. The Writer’s Dream, as you can see from the two posts that follow, is an interview show. I needed an interviewer and an interviewee, and certainly more than one. Using all the resources at our disposal, we’ve come up with a stream of more than willing guests.

You can find a local access station servicing your area. Just google local access stations in your state.
