Milwaukee police confirm Misty Cook, the ex-girlfriend of Sikh temple gunman Wade Michael Page, has been arrested on a weapons charge unrelated to the shooting. Cook was taken into custody Sunday after officers interviewing her as part of the investigation into Page noticed a gun in her home. Cook is prohibited from possessing a gun because of 2005 felony charge of fleeing from police.
Meanwhile, the FBI announced Wednesday Page was not killed by a police officer as previously reported. Page was shot in the stomach by the officer, but he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Page, a 40-year-old Army veteran who has been linked to white supremacy groups, opened fire on worshipers at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on Sunday. Six people died and 3 others were wounded. The dead have been identified as Suveg Singh, 84; Satwant Singh Kaleka, 65; Ranjit Singh, 49; Sita Singh, 41; Paramjit Kaur, 41; and Prakash Singh, 39.
Authorities are still trying to determine the motive for the shooting.
