Authorities in Mexico confirm more dismembered bodies have been found in the eastern state of Veracruz. State prosecutors say 14 bodies were left in a truck abandoned on a highway near the border of Tamaulipas state. The bodies were discovered on Monday and removed from the scene the following day.
Monday’s discovery comes just five days after a truck containing 14 dismembered bodies was left outside a government building in El Mante, Tamaulipas state. Notes were reportedly left with the bodies, but police did not comment on their contents. No arrests have been made in that case.
Last month, dismembered bodies were found in the states of Nuevo Leon and Jalisco state. Investigators believe those killings were the work of the Zetas drug cartel.
